BIOMECA is a French Biotech company specialized in nano-structural details and physical properties of biological samples, from large structures, such as hair and skin cells, down to individual molecules of DNA and proteins with sub-molecular resolution.
BIOMECA believes it is necessary to understand structural and mechanical properties of biological samples to have a better understanding of the behaviour of complex biological processes and pathologies. We chose the Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) as a tool because it enables us to study biological samples directly in their natural environment. However it is always tricky to be able to obtain images or mechanical characteristics of living and growing biological tissues in their physiological environments. In order to overcome these technical limitations, BIOMECA develops powerful methodologies suitable for in vitro, in situ and in vivo studies.
