BUREAU DE RECHERCHES GEOLOGIQUES ET MINIERES (BRGM)

BRGM is France’s reference public institution for Earth Science applications in the management of surface and subsurface resources and risks. BRGM is the french geological survey. Scientific research at the BRGM is focused on furthering geological knowledge and understanding surface and sub- surface phenomena. BRGM applies an integrated approach to the management and prevention of environmental damage.
Our priority areas are site surveillance and rehabilitation, polluted soils and sediments and management of household, industrial and mining waste.

Geology, mineral resources, geothermal energy, geological storage of CO2, risks, post mining, water, polluted sites and soils, waste, metrology and laboratories, information systems.

BRGM runs different agencies in mainland and overseas France to meet the needs of its regional partners (central and local government, agencies, etc.), as in Auvergne -Rhône Alpes region. These agencies are working closely on issues of concern to its clients and partners across mainland and overseas France. BRGM applies an integrated approach to the management and prevention of environmentaldamage.
Our priority areas are site surveillance and rehabilitation, polluted soils and sediments and management of household, industrial and mining waste. R&D on ecotechnologies to support clean treatment processes is a key area of development.
