Report on the Axelera Thursday New Year’s meeting

The first Axelera Thursday meeting of 2017 was held on January 26 at the IFP Energies Nouvelles auditorium in Solaize, near Lyon. Of the 90 attendees, 50 took part in two site tours. All participants enjoyed the meeting’s fast-paced plenary session, an exciting networking reception, and more than 40 speed business meetings.

TOURS OF IFP ENERGIES NOUVELLES AND AXEL’ONE ANALYSIS

Just before the meeting, 30 people toured the IFP Energies Nouvelles site in Solaize and 20 people toured the Axel’One Analysis platform.

 

A FAST-PACED AND INTERESTING PLENARY SESSION

Axelera President Pierre Beccat kicked off the meeting by wishing all attendees a Happy New Year on behalf of the cluster, followed by Simon-Pierre Eury, Deputy Director of DIRECCTE Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (the regional branch of France’s Directorate General for Enterprise). Pierre Beccat then reviewed Axelera members’ 2016 success stories, including successful fundraising campaigns supported by the cluster, products released and jobs created following Axelera-certified innovation projects, partnerships created, and additional revenue generated through leads and events facilitated by the cluster. Karim Medimagh, General Manager of Eplorair, offered his personal testimonial of the positive impacts of Axelera’s support on his company’s growth. Finally, Axelera Director Jean-Manuel Mas presented Axelera’s priority objectives and outlook for 2017. The cluster’s coordination team then gave an overview of its program for 2017, with activities spanning innovation, business, private investment, international development, training, education, competency development, and communication.  

These presentations alternated with three-minute, three-slide pitches by the cluster’s nine newest members:

-Agence Edel: Risk-prevention consulting

-ATMO Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes: Air quality monitoring for the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region

-Bakercop: Leased short-term storage, pumping, and filtration solutions

-BOM Robinetterie Industrielle: Design and manufacturing of machined and mechanically-welded stainless-steel and noble-metal industrial taps

-Digital Drone: Geomatic services including topographical data collection, 3D mapping, orthophoto mapping, precision aerial imaging, and thermographic inspection

-EC2 Modelisation: Engineering firm specializing in modelling the thermomechanical behavior of solid materials and structural elements

-Eosgen Technologies: Liquid effluent treatment and water recycling solutions

-Kanopee: Personalized digital services (custom mobile apps and API) leveraging hyper-resolution geolocation data to predict outdoor air quality

-SCE: Urban design and engineering firm specializing in urban development and environmental protection

A BUSY NETWORKING RECEPTION AND 40+ SPEED BUSINESS MEETINGS

After the plenary session, a networking reception was held over cocktails and more than 40 speed business meetings took place, giving participants a chance to rapidly generate business contacts.
